Upper Arlington Schools Resident Educator Transition Program

Rationale

Beginning Teachers come to the profession with content knowledge, pedagogical knowledge, and knowledge of learners and learning. They may not have developed a commitment to the profession and a commitment to the student. In addition, they may not be knowledgeable of the complexities of teaching in the time of reform. Beginning Teachers need support as the organize and manage the day, the classroom, the curriculum, assessments, learn to use reflection on their teaching practices to improve learning for all students and develop an understanding of the school district’s operational procedures. "The program is based on the understanding that by supporting teaches as the accelerate and strengthen their practice student achievement will improve."
